TABUNS: Ontarians losing patience with Ford’s recycling program

QUEEN’S PARK — The Ford government’s new recycling program is causing even more headaches for people across Ontario, with multiple communities now being told that clear plastic overflow bags will no longer be collected, beginning in March. NDP Shadow Minister for Environment, Conservation, and Parks Peter Tabuns (Toronto—Danforth) has issued the following statement, calling on the Premier to clean up his mess:

“This situation has gone from chaotic to indefensible in less than a month. Doug Ford said on January 5 that he was going to fix his government’s disastrous rollout of their new blue bin pickup program. Now, Ontarians who have been left waiting days, or even weeks for their recycling to be collected are being told further service cuts are coming? This is unacceptable.

“Ford is once again showing how little respect he has for the people of Ontario. He says it’s only ‘lefties’ who are unhappy; but left, right, and centre, Ontarians are tired of waiting while their blue bins overflow. The Premier owes it to them to start taking this seriously and give them a program they can rely on.”
